Bright as Dishwater
I’m stepping from signals to steam,
from static to shimmer and shine.
A path I once dreamed in a daydream,
now finally, finally is mine.
I’m shedding the hum of the circuits,
the weight of the wires and grief.
For the clatter of plates in a heartbeat,
and the warm rising steam of relief.
One door after countless phone whispers,
swung open like dawn breaking through.
And the child in my chest started laughing,
saying, 'this is the place made for you'.
My hands that once tuned the antennas,
now polish small moons in a sink.
Each bubble a soft little promise,
that life can be simpler than you think.
And cooking for kids is the compass,
the one I was meant to believe.
I’m finally stepping toward wonder,
and god, what a gift just to breathe.

I genuinely enjoy your posts! They always give me something to think about and I’m glad to see a new one today. ;)
