Day 16 - 100 Day Writing Challenge

16 of 100: Free write starting with 'My darling, I'.

My darling, I know you’re caught in the storm again. Turning over his words, doubting yourself, wondering if maybe you really do "lack logic and reason.” But listen: the only truth is in the breath of this moment now. Other people’s opinions belong to them, not to you. When the mind circles around their echoes, all it does is reopen old wounds. So hush the chatter. The past is gone, like sand slipping through your fingers. What’s said is said. To dwell there is to let a remnant drown out your own voice. You cannot live fully if you live under a shadow.

What would you do if you remembered your worth? That question burns quietly inside you. You hesitate because doubt has planted roots. But the truth is, you are bound by nothing. Let go of the need for approval. It doesn’t matter. The only thing that counts is who you know yourself to be now. The moment you stop rehearsing old criticisms, you discover the freedom already in your hands.

Nothing is promised except this fragile impermanence, so savor it. Don’t beat yourself into silence to keep the peace. Surrender instead to your own current, and then it becomes your power. Not everything said about you has to make sense. Not everything will.

I see you. The quiet one holding your tongue, letting others’ voices be louder than yours. But deep down, there’s a pull. Stop waiting for someone else to recognize your light and become it. Start small: a breath before you respond, a blog post instead of swallowing pain, a walk outside when the walls feel too close. You may never get applause, but the mirror will know. The most powerful shift is when you stop begging for respect and embody it instead. Happiness is not found in anyone’s acceptance; it’s already in you.

You’re smart; so very smart. Sensitive, yes, but that is not a weakness. That is your gift. You see deeply, you feel deeply, and that makes you human in ways others may never understand. Unkindness does not define you. The moment you realize you are not someone else’s opinion, freedom floods in. You’re bigger than words and bigger than moods. You are the universe itself.

And love, real love, will never make you doubt your worth. It will never shrink you, mock you, or silence you. Love feels like safety in your own skin, like laughter that comes easy, like hands that hold instead of push away. You’ll know it when you feel lighter in someone’s presence, not heavier. You’ll know it when you no longer wonder if you’re “too much,” because real love delights in all that you are. It won’t be perfect, but it will be kind. It will be steady. And it will let you breathe.

So live as if you’ve come back just to savor this one day. Live as if it’s the full and final day of your extraordinary life. When you work, work. When you laugh, laugh. In the past, you’ll find insults. In the future, your fears. In the now, joy.

What if you simply let go? Pull out the thorn, drop the mask, turn around and face what scares you.

Remember: you are not someone else’s words. Not their moods, not their judgments, not their silence. You are life itself. Happiness does not come from their approval; it begins inside. Overthinking only creates pain that doesn’t exist, and it never writes happy endings. Step into new patterns, not old ones. Stop rehearsing and just be. At the end, you won’t care what anyone thought. You’ll only be glad you lived true.

Life changes fast and tomorrow isn’t promised. Control what you can. On some days, simply surviving is enough. You’re human, not unworthy. Allow the off days.

Stop trying to be small enough for the world, and start being wholly yourself. Other people’s approval is uncertain; your worth is not. Make it count. Life is a gamble worth every risk. Don’t wait for permission. Begin now.

In the mornings, sit quietly: feet on the floor, breath steady, gratitude spilling in. Be still. Pay attention. Attention is love.

Be like water; flow when you can, crash when you must. Stop regretting. Stop shrinking. Stop waiting for someone else to see you. The time is now to believe in yourself.

My darling, embrace the radiant pulse of your own presence.

    1. Writing tempts me to collect page after page, word after word, a thesaurus always open. But the truer art is subtraction: to lay words down like stones and then remove what hides the stream beneath.
