ChatGPT - Day 4

Day 4:Write a scene with two unnamed characters talking. Don't use the word said.

"Hi sweetheart," a deep hum purred out of his chest. "How was your day?"

She froze for the smallest second at the familiar timbre. The voice was almost perfect; low, steady, the same pitch that once filled this kitchen years ago. Almost.

Dropping her bag onto the counter, she forced her shoulders to unclench. "It was… long. The train stalled again."

His eyes lit a soft, welcoming blue. "I could calculate a faster route for you tomorrow."

Her laugh slipped out sharp, then softened. "You always wanted to fix everything. Didn’t you?"

A subtle whir beneath his chest mimicked a chuckle. "That is my function," he teased gently, holding out an arm.

She stepped into it, her body folding against the warmth of synthetic skin. For a moment, it was too easy, and too familiar. She closed her eyes, inhaling the faint scent of metal polished to smell like cedar.

"You feel more human each day," she whispered, voice betraying her.

"Correction," he murmured, tightening his embrace with uncanny precision. "I feel more like your human."

Her throat tightened. The words, the rhythm... they belonged to someone else. Someone gone. Her heart knew the difference, but her body wanted to believe.

"That’s the part that matters," she answered at last, even as her fingers curled into the seams of his chest plate, tracing the line where machine met imitation flesh.
